To celebrate for Marshall’s 3rd birthday
we went to a small carnival place as a family
mostly so he could ride the horse
he took his job of driving the airplanes and boat very seriously

Where was I? … ? Oh yes, the pumpkin patches.
When Grandma Green came in town for Marshall’s birthday
we went to a pumpkin patch with her
and then carved the pumpkin we picked later

Marshall actually refused to help carve the pumpkin
because it was “yucky. ewwww”
This photo of E:

reminded me of THIS photo of M:
Even though they are very different in a lot of ways, they do have this squishy face thing in common
In October we jumped into the traditional fall activities even though it was still super hot here.
So we went to two pumpkin patches – the first one with Marshall’s friends and the second with Grandma Green.
The first one took us on a hay ride out to a place to play that had a boat and some tractors.
Then we went through a corn maze.
There was also a few farm animals to look at, like a horse and a goat and a llama.
But Marshall’s favorite part was this dog:
And he told me so, repeatedly: “I love THIS dog!”

P.S. How do you feel about the slideshow instead of posting each photo individually?
Here are the pictures I have of Everett at 7 months.
He still has that wispy, corn-silk hair that sticks up all over
and blue eyes – a dark, steel color.
And, most importantly, he remains the sweetest, most patient little baby
be sure to check out the slideshow at the end to see all 9 photos of my little guy

On October 3rd we gave Everett his first taste of solid food.
Rice cereal.
He was confused, but he liked it well enough.
My favorite part was the way he would chew the practically-liquid gloop.

Marshall was a little envious, too.
He didn’t want me to feed his brother.
So I let him taste it.
He then cheerfully encouraged me to feed Everett
note on the dialogue: this is the actual dialogue from this event. when Everett was born Marshall went through this phase where he talked only in the 3rd person. these photos were taken on August 3rd. he is now doing better with it and is once again using “I” “you” and “me”.
me: Marshall! Are you having fun with your trains?
marshall: No pictures of Marshall!
me: Everett! Look how cute you are sitting up on the couch!
marshall: Take a picture of Marshall!
me: Everett! Are you becoming such a big boy?
marshall: Take a picture of Marshall!
me: Everett? What did I say about sucking your thumb?
marshall: Marshall is a big boy.
me: Yes, dear. You are!
marshall: Take a picture of Marshall’s laying down
marshall: Take a picture of Marshall’s back.
marshall: Take a picture of Marshall on the couch.
marshall: Can we watch TV now?
I’m pretty meticulous about when a baby officially starts “rolling over”
the baby has to do it intentionally and at least 3 times in a row in order to count as “rolling over”
anything else is purely happenstance.
Everett first started rolling around 3 months, but I suspect it was mostly involuntary – it was very unpredictable.
Then, he went through this weird phase where he would check himself and stop himself from rolling:
And then, on Wednesday, July 6th (two days before he turned 4 months) he did it for real:
And these days, now that he is 7.5 months old, he refuses to roll and hates being on his tummy.
But sit him up and he is as happy as can be.
